Here’s a photo of our last group of teachers who completed Moodle training this summer.

Mary James, Administrative Assistant (word processing) in the FRC, was honored yesterday (July 24, 2008) at the college’s Board of Trustees meeting, after working at the college for more than 40 years. Mary first started with the college in February of 1968 as a typist clerk in the Admissions and Records office before accepting a permanent position with that department. In 1980, she moved to the then new Word Processing Center and later assumed a lead role as Principal Word Processor in that department for the next 15 years before joining the Faculty Resource Center in 1995. Mary received many accolades from faculty over the years. Here’s a link to some of the faculty and staff who had time to comment.
I developed a series of short (<10 minute) demonstrations using Moodle. You’ll need the FREE flash plugin in order to view and a computer sound card to hear them.
Now you can see by their faces that it wasn’t all work. I think it’s fair to say that most had a good time and found Moodle to be easier to use than WebCT… Jack Ullom even came back from retirement to attend the week-long workshop.

We may have set a record in having the largest number of folks with Ph.Ds in an FRC training session. There were seven of them…..
For those of you interested in simple solutions to technology problems, take a peek at CNET’s Tips & Tricks website. Some solutions include organizing digital photos, improving lighting with home video, and shooting better pics with your cell phone.
And so it begins… Who would have thought that in just four morning sessions their online courses would be ready to go in Moodle? Well, almost ready to go…. At least they’re still smiling!
Of course, it might be out of relief that the training is over… (Yes, I know I broke the 180 degree field of vision rule but only the Film Pro teachers and Doug know that.)
Here’s a short Quicktime slide show (opens in a new browser window) if you didn’t see enough already.
